Curved drylin® linear rails and energy chain for the rotation of igus® make monitors mobile

An old water tower was converted into a central control room for monitoring the water supply. The room in the upper part of this tower is used as an education centre focusing on the environmentally friendly use of water resources and as a meeting room for the company management with its partners. As an aid for future educational purposes, six movable TV screens have been installed in two rows, which move around the room in a radius of 6.8 metres and at an angle of 180°. In addition, there are a further six movable TV screens in the upper meeting room, arranged in a single row. These TV screens move in a circle with a radius of 5.9 metres and an angle of 45°.

Problem

We faced several challenges at the start of the entire project. Two of these challenges were:

1. How to mechanically guide the TV screens in a circular room?
2. How do we bring the power and data supply to the moving TV screens?

We also wanted to minimise the maintenance effort so that the scheduled meetings and training sessions would not have to be suspended for maintenance work. Thanks to the support from igus®, we didn't have to search long for the individual components and were very happy to be able to get everything from a single source.
