Gear levers of cars are tested under constant load on this test bench. 100,000 cycles in a temperature range from -40 to 80° C are performed within 15 days. Here, not only the gear levers but also the test bench needs to be sturdy. The originally used metal bearings did not resist such high temperature fluctuations and the constant load and resulted in corrosion. Apart from that, they also required frequent lubrication. For this reason the developers used lubrication-free iglidur® plain bearings and drylin® linear guides from igus® for the test mechanism.
