This solar car is a real lightweight. To reduce the weight of the vehicle, the developers tried to do without heavy metals as far as possible. At the transition point of the rear axle rocker to the suspension, for example, an igubal® pedestal bearing from igus® was used rather than a metal bearing. Lubricant-free bearings from igus® were also used on the steering links and even the steering column is guided by an iglidur® flange bearing. A further advantage of igus® components is that they absorb oscillations extremely well, thus improving the driving experience.
