Easy flying

In this solar airplane, metal parts are installed only if there is no other possibility. Carbon fibre reinforced compound materials and plastics are the predominant materials. Its weight is clearly lower compared with metal and in addition they are less susceptible to damages. Numerous igus® products can also be found on board: The proven plain bearings are used on the elevator and at the main and rear wings. Inside the airplane, a drylin® linear guide system allows moving of the accumulator during the flight to shift the plane’s gravity centre.
