Sand yacht

Problem-free sailing

This sand yacht reaches a speed of up to 90 km/h. The bearings in the steering are subjected to high loads. In addition, sand and seawater are conducive to corrosion. Initially, metallic bearings were used in both the steering head and tiller sticks and foot control; however, these corroded or broke and led to high maintenance and repair costs. Since the conversion to plastic bearings from igus® the yacht has been sailing problem-free for eight years.
