This robot is used for automatic cleaning of building facades with smooth surface such as marble, granite or glass. Cleaning is made via rotating brushes. Because the robot is permanently exposed to dirt, humidity and chemicals, conventional bearings for the guidance of the brushes ruled out due to being susceptible to corrosion. Instead, the developers used plastic plain bearings from igus® that are absolutely lubrication-free and resistant against cleaning agents.
