Success for the customer: Reliably functioning cables with a long service life
The challenge
Airbags save thousands of lives every year. However, in order for the rescue systems to inflate reliably in a fraction of a second in an emergency, they must be carefully folded - similar to a parachute. The airbags are folded by a machine from Polish manufacturer Dan-Rob. It works with a turntable with a diameter of 1.5 metres, which rotates 120 degrees per second.
Solution
To protect energy and data cables from wear and cable breaks during this rotation, the company relies on robust cables from the chainflex® range from igus® (CF130.15.05.UL; CFBUS.PVC.060 and CF5.03.25) and energy chains from the E4.21 series (E4.21.070.100), which move in a semicircular guide channel. A combination that ensures fail-safe operation at these speeds.
