Bearing technology for pest control drone

"FitoStinger" is a drone, the target use of which can be pest control. A telescopic arm can be positioned close to the spot of infestation and spray pesticides. Non-affected areas remain spared. Bearings from igus® are installed in the guide system of the transport tubes that contain the pesticide, but also in the joint arm. drylin® linear modules have been additionally installed. A challenge was the fixation of the system during tilting, turning or rotary movements to avoid contact with other parts. Five igubal® pillow block bearings are used to ensure optimal guiding. Another problem was: A precise linear movement to perform a precise location of the infected place. In this case, the weight of the installed parts in order to avoid overloading of the drone as a transport system was of great importance. Hence a drylin® guide made of carbon fiber is used – it disposes of the necessary stability and is extremely light and resistant.
