iglide® Z plain bearings for ÖBB railroad loading ramps

Maintenance free bearings able to withstand extreme temperatures and make ramps easy to assemble

The tunnel rescue trains of the ÖBB have storage spaces in each train car in the front with pull-out loading ramps and flaps.

In this application of iglide® Z maintenance free bearings, the flaps with the pull-out ramp elements must form an "enclosed track" so that other disabled train cars or train vehicles can be easily maneuvered into them.

This enclosed track must be capable of being assembled and dismantled by a crew in a very short time. The iglide® plain bearings allow for a quick assembly. The maintenance free bearings are also able to withstand the fluctuating temperatures, which was also a main criterion for this application.

The hinge elements and cam rollers of the ramps are inserted with two iglide® Z plain bearings respectively. The stainless steel axles which connect the fixed hinge parts with the moving ones run through the plain bearings.
