igus® offers bevel gears, spur gears, and gear racks from a large assortment of iglide® materials. Our plastic gears use iglide® materials suited for wear resistance, high forces, and resistance to dirt, dust, corrosion and chemicals. iglide® gears are self-lubricating and maintenance-free for low-friction, lightweight operations. For more in-depth information and data regarding all of our gear types, read our gears brochure.
For your custom gear needs, we can use our iglide® 3D printing materials and in-house SLS print service to create gears with complex geometries that are 3x more abrasion resistant than conventional printing materials. igus® also offers CNC machining and injection molding services as well. Learn more about our gears’ wear rates in this white paper.
Spur gears (parallel shafts), bevel gears (right-angle drives), gear racks (rotary-to-linear), plus custom gears. Offered in self-lubricating polymer options and available via molding, CNC machining, or 3D printing.
Spur: module 0.5–3, 10–150 teeth.
Bevel: module 1–3.5, ratios 1:1–1:5.
Racks: module 0.5–3, standard segment 250 mm.
Notes: Customs available if you’re outside these ranges, and diametral pitch (DP) gearing is available upon request (we can map DP to module for U.S. standards).
A: Yes. Micro-gears down to module 0.2 are achievable through our Custom DLP Resin 3D Printing Service, and the spur program spans 8 modules with 300+ catalog dimensions.
A: igus® plastic gears are lightweight, quiet, corrosion-resistant, and lubrication-free; metals can handle higher peak loads and temperatures. Choose based on load, speed, temperature, duty cycle, and counterface.
A: All igus gears use polymers with embedded solid lubricants for dry-running operation. Pick a grade by load/speed (PV), temperature, chemicals/washdown, water exposure, shaft material/finish, and any compliance needs. Use material pages and the Gear Service Life Calculator, then verify with a quick wear test.
A: Yes. igus manufactures customs via custom molding for series parts, CNC machining from iglide bar stock for low–mid volumes or special geometries, and igus 3D printing for fast prototypes, micro-gears, and complex shapes.
A: Food & packaging, material handling, automation, medical/lab, and vending—anywhere quiet, corrosion-free, maintenance-free motion is valued.
A: igus can replicate legacy metal/plastic designs using 3D printing for speed, machining for close fits, or molding for series. Stock parts ship quickly; engineered customs are quoted to drawing with scalable lead times.
A: RoHS/REACH documentation is available, and guidance on FDA-related, ESD, UV-stable, and chemically resistant material options. Confirm final compliance for your region and contact conditions.
