3D-printed injection molding tools for manufacturing

3D-printed injection moulding tools
Injection molding is an efficient method for serial production of high-performance plastics for moving applications. The injection molding tools required in this regard are usually manufactured of steel, at costs that can only be amortized with high quantities. With the first 3D printed injection plastic molding tool, igus® has now developed a cost-saving alternative.

Thanks to 3D print igus® is able to implement customer-specific injection molds made of high-performance plastics in a short time. Maintenance-free plastic plain bearings in the desired form can be quickly, and above all cost-effectively, manufactured in the desired shape.

The special part arrives at the customer's facilities in just 4-5 days after the order is placed.

With the SLS process the appropriate tool can be produced and can be directly used in the injection molding machine.

3D print tools withstand the high temperatures of the injection molding process.

Tested at a uniform quality of 190 pieces.

The prerequisite is that the injected molded parts must have simple geometries.
