Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) fuses plastic powder layer by layer with a laser to form the final part, with loose powder around the workpiece providing self-support so dedicated supports aren’t needed. SLS parts are typically less brittle and handle impact loads better than DLP Resin, and they print more uniformly than FDM Filament. iglide SLS powders are engineered for motion components, dry running and wear resistant, delivering a service life three times longer than standard SLS powders. Specialized options include FDA compliant, ESD, and high temperature materials. iglide powders can be purchased directly from the shop, or used in the igus 3D print service, which offers CAD configuration with predictable tolerances, service life calculation, and immediate online quoting.
Selective Laser Sintering uses a laser to fuse polymer powder layer by layer; unused powder supports the part, so no separate support structures are required.
iglide® SLS 3D printing powders are wear-optimized powders engineered for sliding contact (gears, bearings, guides) and stable, repeatable production.
iglide® i3-PL showed at least 3× higher abrasion resistance than conventional SLS materials in igus tribology tests.
Our SLS powders offer a dimensional accuracy of ±0.1 mm, with build planning aimed at consistent results across batches.
Motion components with sliding contact (gears, bushings, wear pads, housings) and complex internals such as enclosed channels; SLS excels because it needs no supports.
Use SLS for tougher parts with uniform properties and clean internal features. It also handles nested builds and production-oriented repeatability better than many filament/resin workflows.
Yes. i230 is a PFAS-free iglide® material (see the product page for details).
Use the igus® 3D Printing Services and upload CAD, choose an SLS material, and get pricing; the service highlights fast turnaround (parts in ~2–3 business days).
Yes. Post-processing and coloring options are offered through the 3D Custom Print service as part of a single workflow.
