Knife-edge applications

Rotating and also rolling knife-edges are used in material handling, primarily on conveyor belts for the food industry and for the beverage industry.  In many applications, igus® knife-edges from high-performance plastics help to transfer the transported goods to downstream conveyors during the deflection. The advantages are the lack of lubricants, reduced drive power due to rolling knife-edges, increased service-life of the conveyor belt, accurate and self-lubricating deflection and tight deflection radii.
Advantages:
  • Complete avoidance of lubrication on the belt deflection
  • Lower driving power compared to the gliding knife edge
  • Longer service life of the belt
  • Injection molded iglide® rollers provide cost advantages compared to rotated PET-P versions
  • Better coefficients of wear compared to PET-P
Application areas:
  • Transportation belts, conveyor belts, discrete product handling
  • Packaging industry
  • Food technology / food industry, beverage industry
