Solution

It is unique because it [the iMSPO Cruise] is a flexible system. We have a 230m trough, so they [the operators] determine where the transfer vehicle goes, depending on where the hatch is located. The ship does not have to be positioned precisely. It does not matter whether the ship is moored to starboard or port.

At the cruise ship terminal in the port of Rotterdam, a movable socket for the shore power connection of the docking ships moves 230m along a trough under the quay.

The iMSPO (igus Mobile Shore Power Outlet) consists of a mobile trolley with the socket box and e-chains that move the heavy cables safely along a rail system. It can be moved by two people using the remote control.

The iMSPO received the award "Port Innovation of the Year" at the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe 2024 in Amsterdam.
