Automated thermal wall production for energy-efficient construction

EBAWE Anlagentechnik GmbH from the district town of Eilenburg in Saxony - a mechanical and plant engineering company and manufacturer of turnkey production plants for the precast concrete industry - was looking for a special solution for which igus® was on hand to provide advice. 
A customer from the U.S.A. wanted to insert the so-called Thermopins (used to connect the facing and supporting shells of core-insulated precast concrete elements) not only perpendicular to the insulation panel, but also at an angle in any direction. A 3D head must therefore be developed for attaching the high-pressure water jet nozzle, which enables these angled cuts.

The development of a 3D head that makes the angled cuts and holes using a high-pressure water jet. The bearings of the axis of the 3D head were realized with iglide® slewing ring bearings (type PRT-01). 

The insulation is then attached to the inner shell of the thermal wall using the thermopins. The insulation material is placed on the still liquid concrete of the inner shell that has just been poured. The Thermopins are inserted into the liquid concrete through the holes created by the automatic insulation material cutter. Once the concrete has hardened, the insulation holds securely to the inner shell.
