Maintenance-free bearings in confined installation space in rolling machine for lorry mudguards

This rolling machine is used to process aluminium profiles for the automotive industry. The end product is later used as mudguards for trailer and lorry wheels. Plain bearings are used in the lifting system of the pressure roller. Previously, these were steel bearings, but they required a lot of maintenance, had to be lubricated regularly and were not precise enough. The machine's linear bearings for lifting and lowering the roller also needed to be replaced. The limited space available in the system for the components and the high amount of dust in the system posed particular challenges. This had settled on the lubricants in the old system and required regular maintenance.

With a combination of drylin® W single rails as linear bearings and iglidur ® Z bearings with flange, the company was able to find an answer to all questions and concerns.
The main problem of the previous application was the linear technology, which was based on steel as the material. The linear plain bearings from the drylin® range (WSQ-10, WWC-10-40-10) work without lubricants and are completely maintenance-free. They are therefore not only insensitive to the high levels of dust in the system, but also work with greater precision. This also has a direct positive impact on product quality in the application, preventing damage to the products. The ball bearings from the iglidur® range (ZFI-2831-32) also work maintenance-free in the machine and eliminate the clearance that the previous steel bearings had in the machine.
