Students from Sam Houston State University used enclosed cable carriers and continuous-flex cables from igus® on a CNC retrofit of a 1970s vintage optical tracer torch-cutting table. Energy Tube protected chainflex® cables from sparks, flames and metal shavings that can cause severe damage during the cutting process.
“The cable and hoses needed to travel with ease in the axis movements of the cutting torch and the cable carriers made that possible,” said students Robert Allen and Robert Davis.
Energy Tubes are well suited for long travels and demanding applications. All Energy Tubes have removable or snap-open lids to enable easy cable access at each link along the carrier. When closed, these lids connect and lay flat creating a completely enclosed system for maximum protection. Energy Tubes also protect cables and hoses from abrasion and can withstand temperatures reaching 932 degrees Fahrenheit.
