igus® solutions for the shore power supply for container terminals and vessels

Container terminals and vessels

Container terminals

Container vessels are becoming larger and larger, shipping alliances change and therefore the vessels that moor at ports. The handling capacity at the quayside is the key criteria for the profitability of the container terminal. Flexible planning of the mooring positions for the daily changing vessel types is essential.

The cable management system on board the vessel usually is located at different positions with a deployment length from 115-180 ft. To connect the vessel to shore power they have to be berthed at the exact connection position. Stationary SPOs therefore restrict the berthing areas. Find out how you can ensure flexibility with igus® mobile SPO technology for your terminal and reduce costs at the same time.

Container vessels

The IEC 80005-1 standard defines that the cable management system is located on board the vessel. This cable management system either is located on board as a semi-mobile system in a 40‘ HC container at a container space near the aft of the vessel or as a permanently installed system usually located more midships close to the engine room.

This cable management system is exposed to harsh weather conditions, salt water and vibrations. Find out how you can improve the function of the cable management system and reduce maintenance and improve durability with the igus® e-spool®.
