Dirt and dust no problem

Palletizing robot cable carriers Harsh application conditions: tile dust sticks to practically everything. After the palletizing robot was equipped with triflex® R cable carrier, service life has increased substantially.

Multi-dimensional cable carrier used on robot in roof-tile production line

Roof tile production in this plant must go on regardless of the dust generated. The company procures its machinery from one manufacturer and has no influence on the components used.

Two robots are employed for palletizing the tiles. A robotic arm takes the tiles from the belt each time, turns around 180° and stack them in packs of 8 or 10. This is carried out at a speed of 6.6 ft/s (2 m/s) over 23.6 inches (60 cm). The air is thick with tile dust. When maintaining its palletizing robots, the roof tile manufacturer made the decision to replace the cable management systems with triflex® R cable carriers, because the original solutions could not withstand the harsh conditions on-site. Machine breakdowns in these economically difficult times were also an expense the company did not want to have to pay out for.
"We had used a series of solutions from another manufacturer, but they didn't stand up to the test. Due to the extreme movements and short cycle times, they generally failed within a short period. In addition, the harsh application conditions meant the cables were damaged so many times that we had to undertake extensive repairs," said the Electrical Engineering foreman. "After the installation of triflex® R cable carriers, the service life of the two robots has at least tripled, so the investment has paid off for us both technically and economically."

triflex® R multi-axis cable carriers have been tested and proven in this demanding environment and the service life of the robots has been significantly increased.
